Ralph J. Bregar

LAURIUM — Ralph J. Bregar, of Laurium, passed away on September 8, 2018.

He was born on April 26, 1932, in Laurium, the son of John and Mary Bregar.

He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, where he was a star basketball player.

Ralph worked for Calumet and Hecla Mining Company after graduation.

He served his country in the United States Army, and later was a member of the National Guard.

On January 6, 1960, he married his sweetheart, Pauline Kristapovich. They shared a love of dancing, bowling and family.

They lived in Mundelein, Illinois, for several years, until they made Laurium their home.

Ralph was a longtime member of the St. Paul the Apostle Church, where he served as president and treasurer of the Men’s Club.

He was an officer for several organizations, including Foresters of America, the American Legion, and the DAV.

He was an avid Detroit sports fan.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Bregar; his parents; his sister, Margaret (Kent) Mulholland; his brothers-in-law, Max and Isadore Kristapovich; and his sister-in-law, Rose Kristapovich.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Gary) Brown of Laurium, Kathleen (Jim) Greenfield of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and Gina Bregar of Laurium; his brother-in-law, Paul (Jane) Kristapovich; his sister-in-law, Gloria Kristapovich; his grandchildren, Bill & Eric Brown, Erin (Scott) Rivers, Alayna (Taylor) Olson, and Brianna Greenfield; his great-grandchildren, Trevor Brown and Kaya Olson; and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be scheduled at 12 p.m, at the St. Paul the Apostle Church with Rev. Fr. Abraham Mupparathara on Friday, September 14, 2018.

Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018.

Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to all the caregivers that provided such wonderful care for Ralph.
