Doris I. Rowe

She was born on July 19, 1933, in Woodland Location, to Reuben and Thelma (Laitinen) Waara. She attended the local schools, and graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1950.

Doris started working as a bookkeeper for Rowe Oil from 1967 and retired in the early 90’s. After retiring from Rowe Oil, she worked for Community Action for several years, along with being the Calumet Township Treasurer for some years as well.

She also was a wonderful cake decorator working at Thurner’s Bakery, and privately at her home after Thurner’s closed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Thelma Waara; her brother, Russell “Fuzzy” Waara; daughter, Jackie Rowe; and her granddaughter, Amanda L. Rowe.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Rowe & Tamra of Syracuse Indiana, Scott Rowe of Dexter, Oregon, and Glenn (Cathy) Rowe of Cedar Bay; grandchildren, John Rowe of Negaunee, Josh Rowe & Kate of Calumet, Matt (Gwen) Rowe of Portland, Oregon, Wendy Montoya of Milwaukie, Oregon, and Eric Esler of Milwaukie, Oregon; great grandchildren, Dakota, Madeline, Jacalyn, Layla, Eliza Rowe, baby boy Rowe, Kali, and Olivia; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, with Pastor Jared Howard to officiate.

Burial will be at Lakeview cemetery.
