Paul E. Windy

HANCOCK — Paul Edward Windy, 58, of Hancock (Paavola Location), passed away at his home, with his wife by his side, on May 20, 2019, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on November 25, 1960, in Cass City, the fourth of six children of Joseph and Ruth (Bliss) Windy. Paul graduated from Cass City High School in 1979. He then attended trade school for welding in 1986, graduated, and worked at various jobs in the welding field. He later went to work at Calumet Electronics until his illness forced his retirement in 2017.

Paul was united in marriage to Tonette Timmreck on Brockway Mountain in Copper Harbor on October 5, 2002.

From the time he was a boy, Paul enjoyed spending his time outdoors. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. He truly appreciated the beauty of nature, especially in the Upper Peninsula.

Paul is survived by his wife, Tonette Timmreck-Windy of Paavola Location; his siblings, Joseph Windy of Calumet, Mary (Rick) Doerr of Cass City, Ruth Langlois of Gagetown, and James Windy of Cass City; his nephews, Anthony and Mitchell Langlois and Mason Doerr; his nieces, Christina Swiderski, Melissa Doerr, and Bethany Dillon; great-nephews, Tristan and Riley Swederski, Logan Doerr, Jackson Royal, and Teagan Dillon; and a great-niece, Josie Dillon.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Windy; a brother-in-law, Michael Langlois, and his chemo-buddy, Bob Mantta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton, with the Reverend Father John Martignon to officiate.

Interment will be in the Elkland Township Cemetery.
