Paul Niemi

Paul was born on November 10, 1927. He grew up in Atlantic Mine, and was drafted into the Army in 1950. He served two years during the Korean War times.

In 1953, he married Luella Marie Matson and she preceded him in death in 1999.

They lived in the Detroit area for 40 years. He worked for the U.S. Post Office for 36 years, and Hudson’s for 24 years. Paul and Marie retired to Florida in 1988 as snowbirds.

They had four children, Glenn (Lisa) Niemi of Howell, Cindy (Dennis) Lasanen of Lake Linden, Sharon Kantor of Walnut Creek, California, and Karen (Larry) Kastamo of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois. They had 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Coming from a family of 15 children, he is survived by two siblings, Donald Niemi of Lake Worth, Florida, and Alice Moore of Michigan.Graveside services will be held on July 20, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet.
