Reino J. Tuominen

SOUTH RANGE – Reino J. Tuominen, 90, a resident of South Range, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.

He was born February 8, 1929, in Adams Township, a son of the late Victor and Ida (Moilanen) Tuominen, and attended the Adams Township Schools.

Reino was married to the former Marian Allen for 58 years. Marian passed away on August 10, 2007.

The couple resided in the Detroit area, where Reino worked at Massey Ferguson Tractor Plant in Detroit, retiring in 1983. Eventually they returned to the area to make their home in South Range.

Reino was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was a life member of Ranger Post 6165 VFW of South Range and a former member of the South Range Eagles Aerie 1122.

Reino was an avid fan of all sports and loved to play sports. Baseball and hockey were among his favorites. While serving in the Army, he played hockey as a goaltender, and had he been given the chance, he very well could have played professional hockey. Reino loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Reino is survived by two sons, Mike (Cheri) of Ishpeming, and Ray (Ann) of Chassell; several grandchildren; a sister, Lempi Allen of Dearborn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents and wife, Reino was also preceded in death by a brother, Victor; and three sisters, Wilma, Linda and Hilja.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019, at the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range, with Vicar Micah Cavaleri to officiate.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the mortuary.

Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.
