Charles Stephen Burger

DOLLAR BAY — Charles Stephen Burger’s Memorial Service is on April 14, 2019. Charles Stephen Burger (Charlie) joined his beloved wife of 66 years in Heaven. Norma and he are now eternally rejoicing together in the love of our Heavenly Father.

Charles was born on April 23, 1926, and was preceded in death by Dell and Elnora Burger and his four sisters.

Charlie was a strong, confident, hardworking man, who sacrificed time, and energy for his family. Although not always compassionate in the first half of his life, Charlie’s compacity to show compassion changed 180 degrees when he accepted Christ as his personal Savior in the early 1970’s. He loved his wife more than anything on earth and his example of dedication to her always was an inspiration to others. They were a solid couple, grounded in all things.

Charlie came from a long line of builders and carried on the tradition as a bricklayer. He started at age fourteen and laid his last brick 76 years later. He was a true craftsman who was creative, maticulas with details, and would not cut corners. He embraced the challenge of figuring things out and could fix anything. If you wanted a job done right, Charlie was the man to call.

Charlie was drafted near the end of WWII and served in France with the 13th Airborne Division. He trained as a Paratrooper but spent his time servicing light airplanes which were used for surveillance.

Charlie was a good athlete and especially liked softball. He didn’t stop competing until the age of 76. He even played ball during his Army years and dreamed about being a professional ball player. However, that dream ended before it got started as Charlie was injured during a game that ended any change of going pro.

Charlie provided leadership for his church and various organizations he was involved in, such as the Gideons International and Habitat for Humanity. Charlie’s love for the Lord has spread to his children and grandchildren who love the Lord and are using their talents to serve God and their communities. Also, his legacy of loving the Lord, his wife (Norma), their children, and friends will continue through the lives of those he has touched.

Charlie is survived by his five children, Charle & Grace Burger, Debra (Simpson) Stefanich, Lynn & Jim Burch, Bruce & Joy Burger, and Gail Burger; 11 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

Please join the family as they celebrate Charlie’s life on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the First Lutheran Church in Dollar Bay at 2 p.m. with visitation at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.

Continue to pray along with the Burger family as they are praising God that Charlie’s is now “Alive” and rejoicing with our Heavenly Father.
