Milton G. Anderson

HOUGHTON — Milton G. Anderson, 90, a resident of the Bluff’s Senior Living Community in Houghton passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the Omega House in Houghton, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on April 13, 1929, in Elo, a son of the late John and Senia (Ihamaki) Anderson. Milton attended the Doelle School.

He then sailed with the merchant marines and was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during the Korean War.

On June 27, 1953, he was united in marriage to Hanna Oja. The couple moved to the Detroit area where Milton had worked as a Hydraulic pipefitter for Excello Corporation. In retirement, the couple moved to Elo. In 2005, Hanna preceded Milton in death.

On August 4, 2007, he was united in marriage to Ingrid Puuri and the couple had resided in Liminga until making their home at the Bluff’s Senior Living Community in Houghton.

Milton was an active member of the Doelle Senior Citizens. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the garden and making wood.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, his parents and infant brother Leslie.

Surviving are his wife, Ingrid Puuri of the Bluffs Senior Living Community; his daughter, Karen (Dan) Flora of Shelby Township; his step-children, James Puuri if Columbia Falls, Montana, Joanne Hodges of Hancock, Duane (Brenda) Puuri of Houghton, Matthew (Pauline) Puuri of Kalispell, Montana, Joyce (Steve) Smith of Dollar Bay, Thomas Puuri of Baltic; his grandchildren, Bryan and Nathan; 18 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; his sisters, Pearl Wanttaja of Madison Heights, Pat (Claude) Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service for Milton will be held at a later time in the Elo Cemetery.
