JoAnn M. Hauswirth

HANCOCK — JoAnn M. Hauswirth, 79, a resident of Hancock, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019, at the Omega House in Houghton, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on January 11, 1940, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Anton and Marion (Hahka) Hauswirth. JoAnn was raised in Hancock and graduated from the Hancock High School with the Class of 1957. She then graduated from Michigan Technological University with a Medical Technology Degree.

JoAnn worked at the Wayne County Hospital before moving to Kenosha, Wisconsin. Ms. Hauswirth had worked for St. Catherine’s Hospital, retiring in 2000 after 40 years. She then moved back to Hancock to help care for her mother.

JoAnn enjoyed traveling, visiting the casinos to play the slots and listening to Willie Nelson or Pink Floyd.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Barbara Ann Edwards; and lifelong friend and second sister, Sharon White.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

As requested, no service will take place and burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.
