Arthur Koski

LAKE LINDEN — Arthur Koski, 80, a resident of Lake Linden passed away on Friday October 18, 2019 at Canal View–Houghton County.

He was born on November 22, 1938 in Keweenaw Bay to Axel and Ailien (Harmala) Koski. He attended the local schools and graduated with the Class of 1956. After high school, Art attended Suomi College before transferring to Northern Michigan University to earn his Bachelor’s degree in education. He taught and coached for 1 year at the Chassell Schools before moving downstate to teach for another 12 years. He then went on to become a welder where he began his career as a sales representative for the Weld Mold Company, retiring in 2002.

Art loved to read and fish. He was also an avid sports fan and loved to golf, play baseball, bowl, and watch Michigan Football.

He also loved camping and spending time with his family. He especially loved playing with his children in their younger years, and his nieces and nephews.

Art was an avid HAM radio operator with his call sign being KA0WIL.

On May 8, 1982 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Helppi in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church located on Pine Street in Calumet.

He is a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hubbell, where he served as a trustee.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Axel and Ailien Koski, his sister, Virginia, brother in laws, Ray Mercier and Dave Nasco, niece, Laura Nasco, nephew, Nate Sorensen, and great nephew, Drew Sorensen

He is survived by his wife: Becky of Lake Linden, his daughter: Heidi Koski of Lake Linden, his son: Steven (April Beveridge) Koski of Lake Linden, his brother: Russ (Ruth) Koski of Keweenaw Bay, his sisters: Mary Ellen (Paul) Sorensen of Oak Creek, Wisconsin and Miriam Mercier of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hubbell with Pastor Bryan Lundquist to officiate. Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Sunday October 20, 2019, and at the church on Monday October 21, 2019 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will take place in the Keweenaw Bay Cemetery.
