Delores Genevieve McMullin

HANCOCK — Delores Genevieve McMullin, age 94 of L’Anse passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Portage Point in Hancock.

She was born July 19, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, daughter to Harry and Victoria (Englund) Lindberg. She graduated from South High in Minneapolis in 1943. Delores married James P. McMullin on January 2, 1946 in Minneapolis, and then moved to L’Anse.

She was a charter member of the L’Anse Baptist Church, former Sunday school teacher, Awana leader, church pianist and organist. Delores was the pianist for the Lighthouse Keepers. She also taught piano lessons.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brother, Russell Lindberg; sister, Edythe Falck; grandsons, Scott and Chadwick Wierenga; and great-granddaughter, Jayce Grissom.

She is survived by her children, James McMullin of Garland, Texas, Darlene (Walter) Payne of Flint, Mich., John (Ann) McMullin of L’Anse, Barbara (John) Turpeinen of Alston, Victoria (Chad) Wierenga of linden; grandchildren, Jolie Miller Julian, John Turpeinen, John (Melanie) McMullin, Jamie (Kelly) McMullin, Nicole (Nathan) Chylek, William (Shanna) McMullin, Joey (Megan) McMullin, Maria (Norm) Haataja, Jessica (Neil) Sandlin, Heidi Turpeinen, Britta Grissom, Nathan (Tina) Turpeinen, David Payne, Abigail (Marshall Thomas) Turpeinen, Jacob (Danielle), Michael, Matthew, and Cayla Wierenga; sister-in-law Marlys McMullin of Conneticut; 46 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home and on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the L’Anse Baptist Church. Her funeral service will be on Monday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at L’Anse Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Bishop officiating. Burial will be in the Pequaming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
