Alan Wesley Mikkola

He was born on October 11, 1950, in Highland Park, to Wesley and Marian (Lassila) Mikkola. He was confirmed in the Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet. He graduated from Calumet High School in 1968, and then attended Michigan Technological University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1972.

Following college, Alan was an accountant for the City of Minneapolis after which he moved back to Calumet and worked for the Postal Service as a letter carrier until retirement in 2003.

Alan loved to pick agates on the shores of Lake Superior and was an avid collector.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Marian Mikkola; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Vicki Mikkola of Calumet; his best friend, Jim Johnson of Calumet; nephews, Matt and Eric Mikkola, both of Calumet; and several cousins.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Lakeview Cemetery.
