TRIMOUNTAIN — Pearl G. Cote (nee Salo), 83, formerly of Trimountain, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Canal View Houghton County in Hancock. She was born December 27, 1935, to Richard and Gertie (Saari) Salo in Atlantic Mine, the second child of three, and was a 1953 graduate of the Jeffers High School.

Pearl married Robert “Popey” Cote in 1955, and they remained in the area to raise their family.

Pearl held various positions as a switchboard operator in the 1950’s, secretary for the ROTC department at Michigan Technological University and retired from UPCAP in 1998.

She had an unforgettable giggle that would get the whole room laughing. Motorcycling with Chuckie on the “Pearly” Gold Wing through the UP was a summer and fall joy. She had several hobbies of which she enthusiastically enjoyed. Pearl was an excellent seamstress and was well sought after to make wedding dresses and formal wear. Knitting was her fondest hobby. She could whip up an afghan in no time at all and knit fine Barbie clothes using a size 0 needle.

Pearl will be sadly missed by the love of her life, Chuckie St. Clair of Trimountain. He gave Pearl her very first kiss in high school and her last as he held her hand through her final breath. She leaves a sister, Ruth (William) Roberts of Fremont, Mich.; her daughters, Bonnie (Michael) Perucco of Marquette and Donna Cote of Seabrook, Texas; three grandchildren, Jen (Greg) Webb of Moline, Illinois, Sara (Shawn) Tibbits of Clemmons, North Carolina, and Mollie Bivens (John Lam) of Seabrook, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Turner Webb, Tyler and Trevor Tibbits and Travis Lam; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Robert; and brother, Robert Salo.

A service to honor Pearl’s life is tentatively planned for the spring 2020.

Arrangements are being handled by the Mountain View Mortuary of South Range, Antila Funeral Service, Inc. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at antilafuneral.com.
