Donna Mae Frusti

LAURIUM — On Saturday, January 11, 2020, Donna Mae Frusti (nee James) passed away at U.P. Health System Marquette, following a short illness and lovingly surrounded by her family, at the age of 80.

Donna was born on March 6, 1939, in Allouez, to William and Laura (nee Simmons) James. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1957. On February 15, 1964, she was married to Bert I. Frusti in the National Lutheran Church. They raised three sons, Todd, Jay, and Keith at their home in Laurium. Donna spent many years proudly caring for her boys, and worked in her later years as a clerical worker for the Village of Calumet.

She loved to knit and crochet, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Donna spent much of her time attending activities with her sons and grandchildren, and traveled often to see them. When she was home, Donna put her knitting skills to use making hats, mittens, and blankets for her family and friends. She was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she spent several years serving as a Sunday School teacher, member of the altar guild, and other activities.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bert Isaac Frusti; her brother, Glenwood James; and four sisters: Myrtle Wilks, Bernice Isola, Clarice Rule, and LaVerne Gassittie.

She is survived by her three sons, Reverend Todd I. (Lisa) Frusti of Davison, Jay D. (Jacqueline) Frusti of Negaunee, and Keith J. (Brooke) Frusti of Chatham; 18 grandchildren, Emma (Daren) Jackson, Cailin, Gretchen, Teresa, Tabitha, Nathan, Angel, Fisher, Matthew, Kyle, Zachary, Benjamin, Sydney, Logan, Adrianna, Lucus, Harper and Eli; her sister-in-law, Helen Helenbart; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday January 17, 2020, at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Bryan Lundquist to officiate.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Thursday, January 16, 2020, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
