In Loving Memory

July 4, 1946 – January 16, 2020. Beloved wife to Donald; Mother to Sheila and Michael; Grandmother to Jake, Madelyn and Walter; Loving sister to Barbara, Marlene and Alvin; generous and kind friend to so many

PELKIE — Elaine Marie Michaelson, 73, of Pelkie, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2020, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Elaine was born on July 4, 1946, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to Raymond and Martha Laszewski. She graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School in 1964.

As an avid Bible reader and teacher, Elaine was an active member of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and served as a missionary wherever she lived including Missouri, Wisconsin and Michigan.

While in Missouri, she met the love of her life, Donald R. Michaelson, of Pelkie, and the two were married on November 1, 1968. They had two children, Sheila Ryan (David) of Marinette, Wisconsin, and Mike Michaelson (Denise) of Pelkie. Elaine retired in 2008 from Sentry Insurance, Stevens Point, and moved, with her husband, to the Michaelson family homestead in Pelkie, to enjoy retirement.

She loved spending time outdoors, playing games, especially Monopoly and Pinochle with her family and friends, and most of all sharing her Bible hope with others, which was her signature. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,’ declares Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Elaine leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Donald; daughter, Sheila; son, Michael; grandchildren, Jake, Madelyn and Walter; along with her sisters, Barbara Siems, Marlene Johnson; brother, Alvin Laszewski; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.

Her parents, Raymond and Martha Laszewski; and her brother, Donald Laszewski, preceded her in death.

A special thank you goes to the staff at Canal View for the excellent, kind and loving care of Elaine for the past five years. The family’s deepest gratitude goes to David and Carla Palosaari and Robert and Sue Mikesch who were always there for her and her family and always willing to go above and beyond. We are comforted knowing Elaine Michaelson will soon know who Elaine Michaelson is again.
