Armand Paul Gervais

YPSILANTI — Armand Paul Gervais died peacefully surrounded by his family on April 13, 2020, at his home in Ypsilanti, Mich..

Armand Paul Gervais was delivered at the Nara Home in Lake Linden, on a warm sunny day, July 18, 1939, his sisters Betty and Wilma were waiting for him.

His parents Armand R. Gervais and Beatrice Gervais (Buschell) and family lived in the Nara house until 1942. The family moved to Chagnon Street where Armand grew up before he left for the Navy.

Armand played basketball, football and was on the track team at Lake Linden-Hubbell High School. Armand played drums in the high school band. Armand graduated with the class of 1957.

One of his favorite memories was running the Teen Center with his friend Milton Brinkman. They organized the dances and the music for local teens.

Armand committed to the Navy before he graduated from high school. One of his favorite ports was Barcelona, Spain. After the Navy he returned to Lake Linden and started working for the State Highway Dept.

Armand met his future wife at a dance in Calumet. Ione’s friend encouraged her to go to this dance.

On July 21, 1962, Armand and Ione V. DeMarois were married at Holy Rosary Church in Lake Linden.

They moved to Ypsilanti, Mich.. Armand started working for his Aunt Rita and Uncle George Beaudette at the Huron Inn.

Armand was given a chance to go through the Tool and Die apprenticeship program at Ford Motor Co. where he successfully completed the program and worked for Ford Motor for over 36 years before his retirement.

Armand played on Ford’s golf league and the softball teams through the years. Armand also started playing hockey on adult leagues in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He played hockey into his 70’s. He enjoyed watching all sports but his two favorite teams were the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers.

Armand and Ione purchased a place on Portage Lake in Bootjack to spend their retirement summers and have fond memories there.

Armand leaves behind his wife Ione V. Gervais, his daughter Renee Gervais Bozich (Joe) and grandsons Ryan, Jack and Adam and great grandson Carter. Son Armand Beau Gervais (fiancé Tina) and grandsons Max and Anthony.

Proceeding him were his parents and sisters Betty (Elizabeth) Hodges and Mary Margaret Gregoire.

His is survived by his siblings Wilma Minetti, Emily Bourdeau (Ron), Teresa Gervais, Sam Gervais (Kim), Ray Gervais (Heidi), Nancy Gaither (Richard), and Rita LaCavera (Tony). His Inlaws Judith and Don Savela and Francis and Nancy DeMarois. Numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

We would like to thank everyone that came and visited our dad in Ypsilanti and in Bootjack. Our Dad told us stories about everyone he met and knew. If you have a story about him we would love to hear it sometime.

A memorial service will take place in the summer up north in his hometown of Lake Linden. We will send out the details later when we have made the arrangements.
