Karen Marie Bukovich Jolley

PAINESDALE — Karen Marie Bukovich Jolley, 77 of Painesdale, passed away on April 2nd, 2020, after a long hard fought battle with several health issues. She was born on July 13, 1942, in Trimountain, the daughter of Michael Bukovich Sr. and Florence Marie Metsa.

Karen attended the Jeffers High School, but later graduated from Hazel Park High School in Lower Michigan. She Moved to Highland Park when she was a teen, where she later met and married Carl Roger Jolley. They parted ways in 1975. Karen, with her 3 children, relocated back to her home in Upper Michigan, residing first in South Range, then Houghton and on to Painesdale where she has lived for the past 40 years. Karen worked as a bookkeeper at several area businesses including Gitzen’s, D&N Bank, and Century 21 North Country Agency. She worked in Home Health Care for a short time and also worked at Perkin’s Restaurant in the office. Karen was forced into an early retirement by disability. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards with her lady friend, Marlene S., Nancy D., Nancy W., and Nancy L. and taking her trips to South Carolina to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her life partner of 38 Years, Alan Autio.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Joe (JoeJoe), David (Butch), and Michael (BoBo); her sister, Janie; and her beloved first-born (named after her 2 brothers) David Michael Jolley in October 2017. She loved animals. She still missed her pets after all these years, Rufus, Nikki, Jake, Max, her grand-dogs, Sonic and Becky. Karen is survived by the “Love of her Life” Alan Autio, of Painesdale; her children, Gina and Duane Snell, of Greer South Carolina, Carl and Connie Jolley of Roseville Mich; her grandchildren, Ryan Snell and Heather Gardner of Greer, South Carolina, Kristen and Ian Goddard of Greer, South Carolina; her 5 great-grand Sweetie-Pies, Bree, Elsa, Cason, Ellet and Andin Goddard of Greer, South Carolina; her step mother, Freda Bukovich and her children, Mickey, Mark and Jocko; her sister-in-law, Carol Bukovich and her children, Mike, Jodie, Robin and Scott, and Carol’s grandchildren, Claire, Paige, Carson, Luke, Ava, Cole, Sydney, Mason, Dean, Allison, and Marissa. Karen is also survived by her cat, Rusty; grand-dog Nova; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and several friends including Marlene St. Clair, Joyce Kinnunen and Holly Deforge.
