Carmen (Bobbie) A. Sartorelli Nardi

GAASTRA — Carmen (Bobbie) A. Sartorelli Nardi, age 97, of Gaastra, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 at the Medora House at PortagePointe in Hancock.

She was born on March 27, 1923 in Crystal Falls, the daughter of the late John Pretto and Theresa (Galli) Broskovetz. She graduated from the Crystal Falls Schools, with the Class of 1941. She was employed as a secretary for Briggs Manufacturing in Detroit from 1941 to 1945.

On December 19, 1945 she married Warren Guado Sartorelli. He preceded her in death in 1973 after 28 years together.

Carmen was the City Clerk in Gaastra from 1968 to 1973, and then worked as an Iron County Deputy Clerk from 1975 to 1988 when she retired.

On October 16, 1981 she married Albert Nardi. The couple celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in 2008 before Al preceded her in death on September 3, 2009.

She was a member of the former St. Mary’s Church of Gaastra and a current member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, the St. Ann’s Society, as well as the American Legion Auxiliary of Iron River.

At age 97, Carmen was a survivor who enjoyed life and being able to watch her children and their families grow. She was an excellent cook. She liked to play cards, visit the casino periodically with friends, and spend time with family at Chicagoan Lake and Stanley Lake. After moving to PortagePointe in Hancock, where she received excellent care, Bobbie continued to spend many hours visiting with her family and friends who visited often. She had a special bond with each of her children.

Carmen is survived by her sons, Mark (Jan) Sartorelli of Appleton, WI and Bruce (Kathy) Sartorelli of Iron River; daughter, Christine (Carl) Anderson of Houghton; stepdaughter, Suzanne (Tim) Olson of Greenville, Wis.; step son-in-law, John Cozzuol of Appleton, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Anne Pretto of Chicago, Ill. and Connie Broskovetz of Green Bay, Wis.; seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Carmen was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Janet Cozzuol, and her two brothers, Jack Pretto and Donald Broskovetz.

A private visitation was held at the Jacobs Funeral Home with the internment immediately following at the Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River. A Mass of remembrance and celebration will be held at a later date at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian.
