Dennis E. Maki

ONTONAGON — Dennis E. Maki, 62, a resident of Ontonagon and former Houghton resident, passed away April 17, 2020, at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital due to chronic asthma.

Dennis was the son of Wilbert John Maki and Ruth Carlson Maki of Chassell, and attended the Houghton schools.

For the last 38 years, Dennis worked for Horner Flooring in Dollar Bay, and recently had just retired.

Dennis enjoyed his daughter, Crystal (Jordan) Mattson of Houghton; and his granddaughters, Aleeya Faith Weber and Ayrabella Lynn Mattson, who were the love of his life.

Dennis enjoyed deer hunting, drumming, guitar and played in several bands over the years. His passion was kayaking, hiking and camping. His retirement dream was to kayak around Lake Superior and venture out to Alaska. Dennis was good at a lot of things including building and working on computers and doing video work through his private business “Maki Productions.” He also loved to draw and paint in his pastime.

Surviving is his mom, Ruth E. Maki of Hancock; his sister, Nancy Nesselroad of Hancock; brothers, John “Crunch” Maki (Belinda) of Pelkie, David (Deborah) Maki of Ferris, Texas, and Ron (Melody) Nesselroad of Houghton. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, John Wilbert Maki.

Dennis will be sadly missed by his family and friends whom he thought the world of.
