Annette Sleeman
CHASSELL — Annette Sleeman, 79, a resident of Chassell, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020, at the UP Health – Portage Hospital following a short illness.
She was born on February 8, 1941, in Chassell a daughter of the late Emil and Martha (Laho) Hongisto. Annette attended the Houghton Schools.
On November 25, 1957, she was united in marriage to William Sleeman. The couple resided in Detroit for a short time before moving to make their home in the Chassell area to raise their family.
On January 12, 2020, William preceded Annette in death.
Mrs. Sleeman was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and RVing with her family.
Preceding her in death were her husband, William; her son, Darrell; her parents; and her sister, Martha A. Hongisto.
Surviving are her children, William (Vicky) Sleeman) of Chassell, Larry (Lynn) Sleeman of Hancock Canal, Marcy (Delbert) Rajala of Mohawk, Dan (Judy) Sleeman of Houghton; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Albert Hongisto of Chassell Donald Lahti of Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private funeral for Annette will be held at the Memorial Chapel Funeral home of Chassell with Pastor David Taivalkoski to officiate.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
