Margaret Helen (Laplander) Hosking

ESCANABA — The book of Margaret Helen (Laplander) Hosking, 94, in the great library of life, began June 8, 1926 and is filled with fresh raspberries from the garden and homemade jam. Eating more strawberries than she picked. Petunias. Bluebirds. Come Back to Sorrento and What a Friend We Have in Jesus. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Beautiful handmade quilts. Wild arbutus. A notorious sweet tooth. Sharing her talents amongst her children and grandchildren through teaching them to read and a love for music. Always offering to help her family. An affinity for poetry. When the last page of her book turned on June 10, 2020, her family here on Earth could take comfort in knowing she has found God’s peace again in being reunited with her family in Heaven.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Hosking; two daughters, Carol (Hosking) Pepin and Faith; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hosking; numerous brothers and sisters; and her parents, Emil and Mary Laplander.

She is survived by her children, Ray (Cheryl) Hosking of Marquette, Gail (Bob) Burch of Ormond Beach, Florida, Mary (Lester) Bingham of Wilson, Jean (Bill) Anderson of Cooks, Richard Hosking of Escanaba, and Robert Hosking of Escanaba; brother, Jimmy (Loretta) Laplander of Dollar Bay; and her sister, Martha (Howard) Maddox of Durango, Colorado. She is also survived by a gaggle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services and burial will take place at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
