Brenda Bardo

AHMEEK — Brenda Bardo, 69, a resident of Ahmeek passed away on Tuesday June 30, 2020, at her home.

She was born on July 16, 1950, in Laurium to Waino and Mae (Lantto) Hiltunen. She attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1968. After graduating from high school, Brenda moved and worked in Detroit until 1978.

On August 19, 1978, she was united in marriage to Thomas Bardo in Hancock.

Brenda worked as a secretary for Horner Flooring for 35 years, retiring in 2013. She was very active in her church, and served on the church council for 12 years. She also loved going on motorcycle rides with her husband, Tom.

She was a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Mohawk.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Waino and Mae Hiltunen, her husband, Thomas Bardo, her brothers, Fred “Farmer” or “Sonny” Hiltunen, John “Jocko” Hiltunen, and Jerome “Jerry” Hiltunen, her sister, Jean Poshak, brother-in-law Russ Richards, and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by: Her sisters: Karen Laukka of Ahmeek. Marie Richards of Sterling Heights, MI. Her brother: Robert “Tubba” Hiltunen of Ahmeek. Her step-son: Dan (Dawn) Bardo of Copper City. 2 grandsons: Zac Bardo of Copper City and Travis Bardo of Calumet, 3 great grandaughters, Lifelong best friend Joanne Mrosz of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Along with several special nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held on Friday July 3, 2020 with Pastor Peter Vorhes officiating.

Burial took place in the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
