Garfield ‘Jake’ Baranowski

He worked at the Osceola Mine for a few years before joining the U.S. Army where he served in Germany, and was honorably discharged. He then went to work for Peninsular Gas and worked there for 30 years.

Jake married Carole A. (Schoolcraft) on August 18, 1979, and they lived in the Baranowski family home in Swedetown. Carole preceded him in death on April 19, 2020.

Jake loved all outdoor activities including fishing, camping and canoeing, but especially gardening. He was considered by many to be a master gardener. He and Carole preserved the bounties of their garden and shared the efforts of their hard work with many. He was also a wonderful cook. Jake was well versed and knowledgeable in many areas. He and Carole seldom missed an episode of Jeopardy.

He is survived by his brothers, Philip (Jayne Harvey) and Bob (Sharon); and sister, Loretta (Dolly) Rowe; step-daughter, Jenny Rohlf (Mike Bollig) and her children, Carole Ann and Jesse, their children Michael, Clayton, Arianna and Isak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carole; sisters, June Lewandowski, Bernice Raedeke, Geraldine Jarve; and brothers, Jerome “Jerry” and Richard.
