James Lamerand

CALUMET — James Lamerand of Chandler, AZ, passed away on June 18 at the age of 73. Jim was born in Detroit, but was raised in the Coper Country, graduating from Calumet High School in 1964 and from Michigan Tech with a Bachelors and Masters in Mathematics. He was a veteran as well, having served in the U.S. Army for three years during the Vietnam War, spending most of his deployment in Germany. After leaving the service, Jim was employed as a computer programmer and software engineer primarily in the Phoenix, Arizona area. He was an avid Scrabble player and competed at numerous national tournaments over the years. Jim was preceded by his mother, Evilyn Manzini, step-father Gino Manzini, father Clarence Lamerand, and his brother Richard Lamerand. He is servived by his brother John Manzini of Laurium and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9 at the Lake View Cemetery Section V. Ryan Funeral Home is serving the family.
