Mildred Verna (Corbeil) Neph

KEARSARGE — Millie Verna (Corbeil) Neph, 83, of Kearsarge, was born on August 23, 1936, in No. 4 location. She passed away on July 13, 2020, at Canal View in Houghton County, where she had been a resident since November of 2015.

She was the daughter of Emery and Gladys (Somero) Corbeil and youngest sister of Louise (Carl) Siira, Frances (Anthony) Morrell and Geraldine (Leo) Foy.

On May 22, 1954, Millie married the love of her life, Ronald Neph, who preceded her in death on January 23, 2008.

Surviving are their three children, son, Ronald (Kathy) Neph of Waterford and daughters, Cynthia (Eric) Trail and Christine Layow (Kyle Hiltunen) of Calumet; grandchildren, Ryan (Ashley) Neph, Alyssa (fiance, Sean Speciale) Neph, Brett (Amanda Bearden) Trail, Colleen (Scott) Carroll, Zackery (Vanessa) Layow, Angela Allen, and Melissa (Andy) Myers; nine great grandchildren; beloved brother-in-law, Anthony Morrell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Millie loved her family dearly, always taking time to make things special for them. She loved to garage sale, finding many “treasures” at bargain prices. She also loved going to the Calumet Theatre for a variety of events.

Millie was proud of her Finnish heritage and ‘SISU,’ which aided in her victorious fight against breast cancer and her courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The family wish to extend a special thank you to the staff of Canal View for all their care and support.

Millie loved Jesus and going to church at Faith Lutheran, where she helped with many funeral services.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020, in Section 74 of the Lake View Cemetery at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jared Howard to officiate.
