Eugene T. Halley

HIGHWAY LOC. — Eugene T. Halley, 75, a resident of Highway Location, passed away early Sunday morning, August 23, 2020, at Mission Point in Hancock, following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 13, 1945, in Sault Ste. Marie, a son of Oscar and Isabelle (King) Halley.

Eugene was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea.

He was married to the former Josephine Linda DiCenzo in Detroit.

While living in Detroit, Eugene drove truck for Interstate. After moving to the area, he worked as a manager at Econo Foods, and later, as a manager at Pat’s IGA in Calumet, retiring in 2017.

Eugene was a member of the American Legion Post 90 of Lake Linden. He enjoyed hunting in his spare time. He loved helping people. While working at Pat’s he made friends with his customers. His kindness and generosity didn’t go unnoticed. If someone needed a ride home from shopping, he took the time to bring them home. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to help someone out.

Eugene is survived by his father, Oscar Halley; his wife, Josephine “Linda”; a daughter, Tammie (Chris) Peterson of Hancock; a son, Eugene Halley of Quincy Location; three grandchildren, Noah Halley, Corinna and Abigail Peterson; a brother, Al (Janet) Halley of Waterford; a sister, Linda (Steve) Bassett of Florida; brothers-in-law, Charlie Vassar and Tom Rafels of Detroit; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eugene is preceded in death by his mother, Isabelle Halley; and a brother-in-law, Paul DiCenzo.

Due to Covid restrictions, there will be no public service.
