Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Jukkala

HOUGHTON ­ — Ronald “Ronnie” Jukkala, 66, formerly of Tapiola, passed away at his apartment in Houghton, on Monday, August 3, 2020.

Ronnie was born July 30, 1954, in Hancock, son of the late Leonard and Elmi Jukkala. He attended John A. Doelle Agricultural School for a short time, and graduated from Houghton High School.

He worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, from construction to welding and fabrication, and spent several years as an employee at Koski Welding in Keweenaw Bay.

Ronnie was a member of the Otter Lake Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time at his familyás camp in Elo. He instilled a love of the outdoors in his three children.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Thayer.

He is survived by his former spouse, Jennie (Heikkinen) of Arnheim; and their three children, Kendall (Trevor Gibson) of Lambertville, John Paul (Courtney) of Marquette, and Gabriella of Urbana, Illinois; as well as his siblings, Bill Phillips, Eunice (Ron) Prymek, Helen (Corbin) Laux, David (Sandy), Paul (Sharon), and Linda (Joe) Watson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held for Ronnie at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by the Mountain View Mortuary of South Range, Antila Funeral Service, Inc.
