Thomas J. LeMay

WHITE PINE — Thomas J. LeMay, 81, of White Pine, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2020, at Canal View Medical Care Facility in Hancock, following a two month illness.

Tom was born on September 13, 1938, in Marquette, where he graduated.

In June of 1958, he joined the U.S. Airforce, serving until April of 1961 both overseas and in the states.

After the military he worked at the White Pine Mine, the U.S. Postal Service and many years at UPPCO, where he served at Marquette and Houghton prior to his retirement.

Tom is predeceased by his dear wife, Rebecca (Becky) LeMay, who passed in December 2011. He is survived by his daughters, Nanette (Bob) Ball of Hubbell, Brenda Nikodem of Cary, Illinois; his son, Dean (Stanya) LeMay of Fond du lac, Wisconsin; and his sister, Therese of Detroit. He has three grandchildren, Brittani Antoine, Andrew Nikodem and Sarah (Nikodem) Keys.

Over the years Tom enjoyed golf, bowling and softball and was an avid Packer fan. Tom enjoyed playing any kind of a card game which he did often with friends and relatives. He enjoyed hunting and most of all, time at the hunting camp with friends and relatives, where he was a great one for passing on the same stories year after year. He always loved Christmas with his family. Until his recent illness, he passed time weekly with friends at Tuesday “Burger Night” at the Konteka and then Friday evenings at the White Pine American Legion Post 462 where he has been a member for years.

The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements. There will be no service at the present time. A celebration of life will be scheduled by the family at a later time.
