Carol A. Monette

CYPRESS, Texas — Carol Monette, 77, formerly of Hubbell and L’Anse, passed away November 4, 2020 in Cypress, Texas.

She graduated from St. Cecila Grade School in Hubbell with the Class of 1957, and Lake Linden High School, Class of 1961.

She worked as a baker at Captain Ray’s and the Hilltop Restaurant in L’Anse and as a cook at the Goodwill Farm in Houghton. She was at home in the kitchen, especially making and enjoying spaghetti, and liked gaming at the casino and playing cards. She liked a good story and was quick-witted and sometimes uncomfortably honest.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert (Hub) and Katherine Monette of Hubbell; and her former husband, Arnold Muotka of Calumet.

Survivors include her children, Shelley Voakes of Cypress, Texas; Laurie Braaten of Houston, Texas; and Erick Muotka of Whitney, Texas; three grandchildren, Jesse Voakes of Katy, Texas, Jolie Voakes of Tomball, Texas and Colton Muotka of Houston, Texas; A great grandchild, Makena Voakes of Tomball, Texas; a brother, Paul (Sharon) Monette of Laurium; and four sisters, Linda Dube of Joliet, Illinois, Marilyn (John Gagnon) of Lake Linden, Marian Roberts of Lake Linden and Terry (Joseph) Schimmel of New Brunswick, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews and a lot of people who knew and liked her.
