Chase Samuel Crisman

TAPIOLA — Chase Samuel Crisman, 16, a resident of Tapiola, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021.

Chase was born in Iron Mountain on August 27, 2004. In 2008, he was adopted by loving parents Daniel and Shellie (Jarvi) Crisman.

Chase was raised in Tapiola and attended Houghton schools, where he had just completed his sophomore year. He was very active in Houghton athletics playing football, track, and participated on the dive team.

In his free time, Chase enjoyed everything outdoors. He loved hiking, hunting, fishing, jumping on the trampoline and skiing in the winter. He also loved going to the trestle and White City to jump and swim with friends. He enjoyed cooking and baking for special occasions. He was employed at McDonalds in Houghton as a cook.

Chase was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock where he was recently confirmed in June of 2021. He was very active with the church, running the video and sound system for sermons. He cherished Camp Lahti and his time there with his church buddies. He was adored by all of his church family.

Chase was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard Crisman, Bill Jarvi and Karen Gehrmann.

He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Shellie Crisman of Tapiola; brother, Ty Crisman also of Tapiola; grandparents, Reggie Jarvi of Paavola, Gerald Gehrmann of Weston, Wis., Joan Crisman of Wausau, Wisconsin; great – grandmother, Dorothy Haapapuro of Paavola; aunts and uncles, Heidi (Scott) Racine, Holly (Ken) O’Connor, Eric (Christina) Jarvi, Michael (Gina) Crisman, Greg Crisman, Peggy (Dennis) Bindl, Dave (Beckie) Crisman, and Kimberly (Butch) Suchomski; cousins, Rayanne, Kenny, Amanda, Ayla, Aili, Adara, Macaiah, Billy, Corey, Briana, Tyler, Mikey, Elliot, Josh, Jessica, Jennifer, Jordan, and Jack; he is further survived by numerous other family members; special friends, Quinn and Colby Aho; and sweet girlfriend, Emilee DeForge.

He will be loved and missed by all.

The family would like to thank the Otter Lake Fire/First Responders, Mercy Ambulance, Michigan State Police and Judy Pruner for their care and compassion.

A memorial service for Chase will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock with Rev. Jesse Aho to officiate. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
