Pauline Johnson

Pauline was born on July 17, 1931, in Laurium to parents Ferdinand and Esther (Honkala) Peterman.

She graduated from Calumet High School in 1948. After high school she attended both Suomi College and Northern Michigan University, graduating from NMU in 1950 with a degree in education.

She became a teacher and she taught until 1986 when she retired from L’Anse Creuse Public Schools.

She married the love of her life Homer “Sarge” Johnson on December 26, 1964, in Calumet.

Pauline and Sarge enjoyed summer vacations at the lake. She loved picking thimbleberries and making Jam with her sister Louise. Also, she and Louise enjoyed making stained glass and going to all the art shows in Eagle Harbor. She was a great cook, and she was very proud of her extensive cookbook collection.

Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Esther; sister, Louise; and her husband, Homer “Sarge” Johnson.

She is survived by her dear friends and all the children she helped educate over the years.

A spring burial service will take place at a later date in the Lake View Cemetery.
