Mary Lou Barbara Rogers, age 89, of Calumet, passed away Wednesday morning, October 19, 2022, at Trillium Hospice House, in the loving, comforting care of her family.
Born June 3, 1933, in Calumet, a daughter of Clyde and Clarice (Bloy) Frank, Mary Lou was raised in Calumet where she graduated from the Calumet High School, Class of 1951. She began her career working with her mother at the family owned Restaurant, The Franklin Fountain. In 1952, she began working with the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company, and it was there in 1953 where she met her future husband, Donald Rogers. The couple was united in marriage on November 27, 1954, established their home, and began raising a family. Her last employment was with the Calumet Hospital where she served as Director of Medical Records over 30 years. Mary Lou’s greatest joy was her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren following their activities. Mary Lou and Don especially enjoyed spending time at their camp on beautiful Lake Medora. Mary Lou was an active member of the Calumet United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her five children, Donna (Gary) Koskiniemi of Marquette, Mary Beth (Craig) Hodapp of Denver, CO, Stanley (Loriann) Rogers of Burnt Store Marina, FL, Paul (Sally) Rogers of Farmington Hills, MI, and Bruce (Regina) Rogers of Novi, MI; her grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Koskiniemi of Marquette, Valerie (Joshua) Bertrand of Muskegon, MI, Joshua Hodapp and Megan Hodapp both of Denver, CO, Samantha (Dustin) Collins of Columbus, OH, Donald Rogers and Alyssa Gafner both of Sterling Heights, MI, Timothy (Kelsey) Rogers of Raeford, NC, Katie Rogers of Ferndale, MI, Nick Rogers of Farmington Hills, MI, Clarissa Rogers, Samuel Rogers, Ben Rogers, and Julia Rogers all of Novi; MI; ten great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lois Rogers of Calumet, Elizabeth Everett of Lake Havasu, AZ, and Barbara Frank of Cleveland, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Dottie Frank; and brothers-in-law, Robert Rogers and Norman Everett.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Monday, October 24, beginning at 4:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm. Rev. Chad Ott will officiate. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception room.
