MusicFest was a big success

The Keweenaw County Historical Society wishes to thank all those responsible for making the 5th Annual MusicFest at the Historic School in Gay, MI on July 6, 2013 a very successful event.

Entertainment was provided by: 1) Singin’ Sheriff, Ron Lahti, Joe Kezele & Andrea daVinci Braun; 2) Dodge Street-Reed Harjala, Wendy Jonas Hill, Paul Keranen, Roger Laub, Mark Lucier, Scott Perkins; 3) The Wing Nuts-B.J. Gariepy, Ken Olsen, Brad Parker, Dave Riutta, Matt Rozanek & Johnny “V” Verbanac sponsored by Copper Cottage Antiques & Collectables in Eagle River.

Items up for auction included the following: Work Detail led by Keweenaw County Sheriff, Ron Lahti, Mike Dudenas, Larry Malloy, Dick Mintken, Bruce Olson, Tom Scanlan, Richard Schaefer & Jim Wachowski; Fish Boil by Ned Huwatschek; Gift Certificates-Pancho’s Berry Farm; Eagle Harbor Lighthouse Cups-1 lb. of Coffee & Tile Cheese Board with Knife donated by Virginia Jamison; Locally made Rag Rug, Signed Ohio Amish Basket-Cherry Jam, Costume & Copper Jewelry, Copper Candlesticks & Holder donated by Genie Mintken; Water Color Print, “Trout Stream Visitors” by Clarence Fisher; Lake Superior Stone Wire Wrapped Necklace by Andrea daVinci Braun; Wooden Bench by John Kastelic; Porcupine Quill Earrings by Lorna Rawn; Local Berry Jam by Addy Schmidt; Handcrafted Items-Woodworking Art by Clark donated by Judy Clark & Susan Brieloff; Vase donated by Clarence & Yvonne Fisher; Various items donated by Nancy Sanderson; Wild Thimbleberry Syrup by the Wooden Spoon; Michigan Tech Vintage Repro Print donated by Jim Vivian.

The Concession Stand was sponsored by the Mohawk Superette and operated by the very competent: Eunice Kowalski, Bob & Ann Strykowski, Addy Schmidt and Jim Yates. Bakery items were provided by Dorothy Harjala, Virginia Jamison, Marilyn Kastelic, Jim & Robyn Klingbeil, Eunice Kowalski, Genie Mintken and Addy Schmidt.

Other volunteers were: Andrea daVinci Braun, Warren Brown, Dane Geitter, Claire, Ida & Marilyn Kastelic, Kyle Kocheran, Larry & Nancy Malloy, Jack Marta, Jay Piquette, Kathy Ptaszek, Nancy Sanderson, Adrie Staib & Jim Williamson.

We would, also, like to thank the following: 1) The Daily Mining Gazette for the outstanding pre & post publicity of the event; 2) The Sherman Township Fire Department for the use of the benches & popcorn machine; 3) The Keweenaw Road Commission for the delivery & use of the picnic tables from the Sherman Township Park; 4) Bruce Fountain-Gay Bar use of the shelter for the silent auction.
