President must be impeached

To the editor:

I am writing today to ask your readers to urge Congressman Benishek to support an official impeachment inquiry into President Obama’s unconstitutional actions. ObamaCare violates the First Amendment to the Constitution by forcing employers to cover abortion-inducing drugs and contraceptives for their employees, even if it goes against their religious or moral objections. Also in violation of the First Amendment, was President Obama’s justice department’s seizure of the personal phone records of Associated Press editors and journalists over a two-month period.

Under the U.S. Constitution, taxes may only be levied on the American people with the approval of Congress.

When President Obama could not get Congress to pass “Cap and Trade,” he used his Environmental Protection Agency to start auctioning green house gas allowances-basically imposing a tax on emissions-and thus bypassing the legislative process required under the Constitution.

He also bypassed Congress by granting “backdoor” amnesty to illegal aliens. In 2010, a leaked internal memo from the Department of Homeland Security entitled “Administrative Alternatives to Comprehensive Immigration Reform” said, “this could be a non-legislative version of amnesty.”

Finally, President Obama has chosen not to enforce laws passed by Congress. In addition to not enforcing immigration laws and the Defense of Marriage Act-laws which have received lots of recent attention-he has refused to enforce the law on labor union accountability.

Under the law, labor unions are required to report how much union bosses and employees are being paid, the value of benefits they receive, the names of who are buying/selling union assets, and possible conflicts of interest.

The Obama Administration has announced that it will no longer enforce these requirements.

To me, Congressman Dan Benishek is in a pivotal position in Congress, because it was he who in 2010 replaced Congressman Bart Stupak, the legislator who allowed himself to be duped by President Obama’s executive order (which has no power against a law passed by Congress) that was supposed to ensure that no taxpayer dollars would be used to fund abortion in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. ObamaCare. Stupak’s vote-switch took along a few other “pro-life” legislators, just enough to pass ObamaCare.

I am very much aware of what happened, because in the fall of 2009 I went to Washington D.C., to talk with Stupak personally to prevent ObamaCare’s taxpayer funding of abortion.
