To the editor:

Now that summer is winding into fall, the Copper Country Walleye Association wants to take a moment to thank all the businesses that supported its second annual Angler and Young Angler fishing tournament on Portage Lake last July.

Many generous local sponsors helped make the event a success. Despite cold weather and a steady drizzle most of the day, the 19 teams and 28 youth anglers who participated and came from as far way as Alaska all had a great time. The tournament organizers want to send a special thank you to our sponsors which included: Iron Mountain/Houghton Powersports, Outstanding Charters, Statewide Real Estate of Houghton, Kissell Chevrolet, the Chassell VFW post, RJ Lures, Coca Cola of Hancock, Aspirus Keweenaw, Ameriprise Financial, Kirkish Furniture, The Monte Carlo, Pats Foods, Gemignani’s Restaurant and Superior National Bank.
