Put the Bible in proper context
To the editor:
In response to David Keranen’s recent letter about the Bible, he seems to ignore that much of it contains hyperbole, metaphors, and parables (as cited by Jesus in the Gospels) that are not to be taken literally.
Most knowledgeable Bible scholars understand that the Hebrew and Greek scriptures are written about a very small part of the world for and about a specific group of people, and view what is written with this understanding in mind.
I enjoy reading David’s interesting letters to the Gazette.
