To the editor:

The staff and students of Gordon G. Barkell Elementary School in Hancock would like to thank parents and community members for making our playground fundraiser held at the Kaleva Oct. 26, 2013 a huge success. A special thank you to Sandy and the Kaleva staff for allowing volunteers from Barkell staff and members of the Finlandia girls hockey team to wait tables and share in the profits from the day. Thanks to the generosity of all individuals involved, the purchase of playground upgrades and new equipment is now a reality. Students can continue to actively play in a fun and safe environment. Hats off to Kindergarten teacher, Amanda Andress, for organizing this great event. Go Bulldogs.
