What America needs is Jesus

To the editor:

Daily the many news outlets spew out stories of woe. Murders, bombings, rapes, robberies, beatings, divorce, shady business deals, government corruption, the list goes on. Many religious leaders have bought into the devil’s lies teaching that the Bible is not inerrant and that it is more important to please the people than to adhere to God’s word. As a result a flood of the devil’s lies fills our churches instead of God’s Word. The lack of believing God’s Word as inerrant is what allows abortion, dishonesty and many other things that the Bible has always taught as immoral to suddenly be ok.

Jesus spoke of this type of behavior, “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” John 8:44

Crime and chaos rule the world, which we see in the daily news. I would state the answer for all the world’s problems could be summed up in a few words. “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38

Many in this country bow down at the altar of money. Lust for money justifies all sorts of evil. Worshipping entertainment, sports and business people as idols false god’s that only disappoint because they are powerless to provide peace, love, joy and all the other fruits of the Holy Spirit. “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” 1 Timothy 6:10

Love of easy government money justifies taking it from those that earn it and giving it to those that are politically in power. The government feeds millions that could but are unwilling to work. The Bible teaches, “That if any would not work, neither should he eat.” 2 Thessalonians 3:10

God is not mocked; Jesus came to call sinners to repentance. A humbling of the American people is needed repenting, which means ending, immoral living. I pray for our country to turn to Jesus asking for forgiveness and mercy for our collective disobedience.
