White House arrogance omitted

To the editor:

I appreciate the November 11, front page coverage given to the White House’s omission of the U.P. on its U.S. map. However, the DMG failed to include the White House’s reply to Congressman Benishek’s remarks. Regional Communications Director Keith Maley reportedly responded, “We’re encouraged that Congressman Benishek is reading up on the thousands of people all across Michigan who will have better access and options for health insurance thanks to the Affordable Care Act, and we hope that he stands ready to help any constituent in the U.P. who is seeking assistance in signing up and increasing the ranks of Michigan’s insured.”

No apology for excluding the U.P. from the U.S., just the unfettered arrogance that America has grown accustomed to from the current administration.

Personally, I’m thrilled that the White House doesn’t consider the U.P. part of the U.S. If the U.P. is not within any of King Obama’s 57 states then we aren’t subject to any of his edicts, including the Affordable Care Act.
