To the editor:
The Barkell Elementary PTO would like to extend a huge “Thank You!” to the Kaleva Cafe in Hancock. The Kaleva was generous enough to host a fundraiser on April 12 for the new play structure to be built at Barkell Elementary this June. This Kaleva fundraiser, where they donated a percentage of the day’s sales, was the second such event they held to benefit the new playground.
We would also like to thank the Hancock teachers and staff who worked hard waiting tables during this event to earn tips for the playground.
They did a wonderful job and we are so thankful for their willingness to spend their Saturday on behalf of the Barkell students. Also, we wish to thank everyone who stopped by the Kaleva on Saturday to support the fundraiser. It was a very successful day – thanks to all who played a part. THANK YOU!!!
Construction for the new Barkell Elementary playground will begin with the teardown of the old structure on June 5-6. The new play structure will be built on June 7. We are looking for individuals or groups from the community to volunteer during these days.
If you are interested in assisting with this playground build, we would greatly appreciate your help! Please contact the Barkell Elementary School for more information.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the fundraising and planning efforts for the new Barkell playground!
We can’t wait to build the new play structure for the kids of our community!
