Hospice salutes all its volunteers

To the editor:

The annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner was held on Thursday April 10, at the Michigan House Cafe in Calumet. Volunteers are a vital part of our Hospice program. They give numerous hours of service to care for our patients by helping the caregiver in the home or nursing facility, helping with administrative work at the office, sewing Teddy Bears for grieving families, and other donations of their time. The following volunteers received special recognition for their service:

Scott Dahlstrom for making 56 Hospice Visits and Volunteer of the Year

Patti Lund – 42 Visits

Abbey Green – 22 Visits

Rae Louise Matson for making 27 Teddy Bears and 7 Walker Bags

Thank you to all of our volunteers for making a difference: Susan Burack, Scott Dahlstrom, Abbey Green, Carol Griffin, Patricia Lund, Joan Maierle, Rae Louise Matson, Sharon Mattfolk, Judy Pleshe, Karena Schmidt, Bill Sewell, Susan Taivaloja, Kathy Johnson, Ann Kemppainen, Ruth Parks, Carolyn Peterson, Keren Tischler, Nancy Wakeman, Wanda Kolb, and Barb Sickler. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, contact Suzanne at Aspirus Keweenaw Home Health & Hospice at 337-5700.
