No error in KJV of Bible

To the Editor,

A recent letter writer (DMG 5-17/18-14) says there is a translation error in Luke 18:33 in the King James Version of the bible but that is not true. Nothing is wrong with that verse. Indeed, Jesus himself made that statement saying “and on the third day he shall rise again.”

No claim is made about his being “resurrected twice.” Jesus simply said he would be killed and would come back to life “again” to which the bible certainly attests.

Regarding Jesus, the Good Book says in Acts 1:3 “to whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days.”

The dictionary defines ‘resurrect’ as “to raise somebody from the dead: to come back to life after apparent death or bring somebody back to life.”

The Ascension of Jesus (Acts 1:9-11) involved the raising of his fully alive body into heaven which happened (as stated above) forty days after Jesus’ resurrection from the grave.
