Trapping is inhumane killing

To the editor:

“Sound science is the only effective way we have to defend against political and legal challenges like the ballot fight we face in the fall.”

Really John?

“Sound science” tells us that wolf numbers do not need to be regulated or “managed”; their populations are self-regulating. The only reason they’re being “managed” in several states is for the benefit of a tiny minority who want to kill them for the sake of killing you don’t “eat” a wolf.

As for trapping? You say “most game species have economic value”.

So I guess that’s all an animal’s life is worth to you – to make a buck? You sell the pelts to Russia and China, and you make a tax-free profit!

Wildlife is more than just an “economic value” to me John; there are more wildlife watchers than hunters and trappers in this country combined. Human beings who actually enjoy viewing living wildlife in their native habitats; who value their lives for something other than the almighty dollar.

Trapping is non-selective, and is an inhumane, barbaric method of killing an animal.

Only trophy hunting and trapping are “under siege” in this country, and they should be; they’re unethical and unnecessary activities.
