Benjamin ‘Ben’ Ernest Juntikka

HANCOCK – Benjamin “Ben” Ernest Juntikka, 84, a resident of Hancock, passed away Thursday morning, July 31, 2014, after a long illness.

He was born on March 9, 1930, in Obenhoff, a son of the late Ernest and Amanda (Rajala) Juntikka. As a child, Ben attended the Atlantic Mine School.

He worked for U.P. Oil Company, owned and operated B&E Oil Company and owned and managed rental apartments in the area. Ben was a very giving person that would help anyone whenever he could.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Philip Juntikka and Thor Juntikka; his sisters, Irene Belttari and Elfie Tapio; and in infancy a sister, Phoebe and a brother, James.

Surviving are his wife, Lorraine (Jamsen) Juntikka of Hancock; children, Marilyn (Gary) Remmers of Charlotte, North Carolina and Tom Juntikka of Hancock; his grandchildren, Jill (Oscie) Brown, Megan (Tim) Dexter and Jason Juntikka; his great granddaughter, Sydney Brown; his sister, Anne (Richard) Bacon of Alanson, Michigan; his brothers, William (Jean) Juntikka of Chassell; Carl (Sue) Juntikka of Chassell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ben requested no funeral service and cremation has taken place.
