Letter reminder of God’s greatness

To the editor:

Thanks to David Keranen for his letter “Break free of myopic mind” on Oct. 22, expounding on the vastness of our galaxy and the speculated multitude of galaxies and the question of possible life in places beyond the earth that we know. This expands my view of how my God is even bigger than I’ve ever even imagined – and now I sing ever louder the song, “How great thou art!” He is awesome. He is the one I love and serve!

Besides galaxies, he created, in minute detail, tiny things like a leaf turning color, a little bug crawling on that leaf, all the cells, etc. in our bodies, all the ingredients in a test tube – everything! All are intended to bring him the glory that he deserves. He is the almighty, ever present, all-knowing God – all praise to him! And on top of this – he loves us!

God made man different than all his other creation by giving us a free will to either embrace him or reject him. Through his great love he gave us the gift of his son, sacrificially in our behalf on the cross for atonement for our sins. This gift cannot be earned. It is ours only if we accept it. That is as easy as A-B-C.

A: Admit and acknowledge that you are indeed a sinner and ask him to forgive you.

B: Believe and receive his promise to forgive and reside in your live.

C: There will be a change: confess it to others, telling them the good news. That is victory, freedom and true happiness.

Death is a sure thing, as we all know. After death there is Heaven or Hell – forever and ever. Time counted as the grains of salt in a typical salt shaker – billions of times over and over again – and then eternity will have just begun. Folks who have accepted God’s gift will live in paradise with him – and – the others, having chosen to reject him, will be for that same length of time, undying, dwelling in the inextinguishable flames of fire. There will be no turning back. This is truly the time to consider our response to this great god. And as far as other galaxies, I know that this same God will deal rightfully with them also.
