We need spiritual climate change

To the editor:

There is so much talk about climate change nowadays — and there is probably some valid concern for that — but my heart aches with a critical need for spiritual climate change. There is a constant ungiving change but in the wrong direction.

As a senior citizen looking back over a lifetime, the change has advanced rapidly and is picking up momentum. Things that were shocking a generation ago are the norm now, and even legalized, even by many churches. The word sin is not only unpopular, but almost considered a swear word.

Everyone knows what I’m talking about. Among other things, public opinion approves of homosexuality (it’s normal), premarital sex (virginity is almost unheard of), abortion (our natural right to choose) and the list goes on and on. And this is all covered by the “selfie — me first” attitude.

In the midst of all this change, there is one thing that never changes: and that is the word of God. He calls these things an abomination, and those that do such will not inherit heaven unless they truly repent and turn from such.

God’s master plan has always been his desire for the best for us. His rules (not suggestions) were made because he loves us so much. But who is listening? Satan’s voice is screaming louder.

Is it possible that we should be paying attention to the increase of natural disasters and distress in our world, our country, and even in the Copper Country? What will it take to get people’s attention?

We need to turn to God — as a nation, as a society, in our churches, and as individuals. It is not too late. God is still calling. Our only hope is a spiritual climate change.
