Race raised funds for trail equipment

To the editor:

On March 23, Copper Harbor once again hosted the Brockway Mountain Challenge, the crazy fat-tire bike ride or race up and over picturesque Brockway Mountain. The race is presented by the Copper Harbor Improvement Association and the proceeds help support Copper Harbor’s Winter, non-motorized trails. Last year, with the help of the Portage Health Foundation and this event, Copper Harbor was able to purchase a new drag to groom the trails. This year the proceeds will help support Copper Harbor’s attempt to buy a new ATV trails groomer.

Of course our race is small but our town is small too… but FUN! We want to thank everyone that volunteered their time and resources to support this event. Thank you to our friends at Ferrellgas, RC Mechanical, and the Mariner North for returning to support the 2019 event and welcome aboard Blackrocks Brewery, helping us round out this season’s event!

Of course, we need to thank the usual cast of characters: Industrial Graphics, The Print Shop, Copper Island Printing, Old Hand Design, Trail Genius and Superior Graphics, which helped us look legit!

And we want to thank the Keweenaw County Sheriff and the CopperDog150 crew for keeping our timing just right.

Finally, we want to thank the great Chasin’ Steel with special guest Bob Hiltunen for making the afterparty sound great! Thank you, everyone, and we will try and make 2020 even better.
