Joe Evans Classic was huge success

To the editor:

Thanks to all who helped make the 17th Annual Joe Evans Classic a Great Success!

This year’s Joe Evans Classic, the 17th Annual Omega House Golf Outing, brought out nearly 90 players, who played under almost perfect conditions at Portage Lake Golf Course. Proceeds from the golf outing were close to $10,000.

The success of our golf outing is always made possible by the help of our volunteers. Some work behind the scenes, helping to plan the outing; several work during registration; others help out on the course. The success of the outing benefits Omega House, providing compassionate, end-of-life care in the Keweenaw. Our heartfelt thanks to our golf outing volunteers, Guy St. Germain, Don Van Uum, Carol Pfefferkorn, Paul Smith, Jim Musser, Peggy Hill, Sue Lutz, Deb Young, Sarah and Mary Rowe, and Elisa Isaacson.

This year’s winning team, sponsored by Jim’s Foodmart came in with a score of 59.

We want to thank everyone who helped and who came out, including sponsors: Ameriprise; Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital; Auto-Pro Glass & Tire, Copper Country Ford; D P Construction; Keweenaw Brewing Company; Jonathan Luse Sr., CPA; Memorial Chapel & Plowe Funeral Home; Penegor Lumber; Range Bank; Rukkila/Negro & Associates; and U.P. Health System, Portage. Raffle prizes were made possible by; Gartner’s Gallery; Michigan Tech Athletic Department; Ojibwa Casino & Resort; Sharon Avenue Express Mart; Surplus Outlet; Portage Lake Golf Course; Vollwerth/Baroni Companies; Walmart; and Deb and Mark Young. Thanks!
