To the editor:

We want to thank the Portage Health Auxiliary for supporting our nonprofit, The Dan Schmitt Gift of Music and Education fund. The auxiliary’s generous gift of $1500 will help us to continue offering free after school music lessons in guitar, piano, and violin. Currently we are giving lessons to 30 students of all ages.

Without support and the support of community-minded organizations like the Portage Health Auxiliary our work wouldn’t be possible. The volunteers who operate the Auxillary’s Guilded Rose Gift Shop at the UP Health System hospital are truly community volunteers. They operate the Gift shop by volunteer efforts, and donate all money raised to community causes and nonprofits.

We are honored and very thankful the Portage Health Auxiliary thought enough of our work to give us this award.
