To the editor:
My name is Justin Kasieta (kuh-shet-tuh), and I’m honored to be running for Houghton County Clerk – Register of Deeds in 2020.
I was born and raised in the western Upper Peninsula but spent most of my childhood in foster care – living in four different foster homes, and attending four different schools during my high school years. I have experienced some very adverse and unique situations. These hard times have made me a better, stronger person. I have decided to return to the western U.P., which I call home, to pursue public service. I want to give back to the place that has given me so much.
As a motivated public servant and advocate for our area, I have a passion for election security and government transparency. I believe my fresh perspective and unique experience as a young professional prepares me well for this position.
In this age of interference, ensuring that our elections are conducted in a proper manner is more crucial than ever. I will do everything in my power to ensure that this happens – including supporting President Trump’s strong voter ID agenda.
In addition to election security, I will make this office the most accessible and transparent in the state by utilizing social media, increasing digital use, and bringing the services of this office directly to the people. This will not only improve communication for county residents but also encourage my generation and all generations to be more engaged in our civic processes.
I look forward to speaking with the thousands of hardworking citizens of Houghton County in the coming months. Please reach out to me at 906-361-7174 or email@example.com with questions, concerns, or to just say hello.
