To the editor:
This letter is in response to the Nov. 8 Daily Mining Gazette editorial ("Campaign bickering disappointing").
I couldn't agree more. It was also disappointing that the Gazette waited until after the election to express this opinion.
Little was said by the media about the nastiness of and on the behalf of political participants during the prior four years. Little was said by the media during the last round of elections. May I speculate why? Sensationalism and strife generates income for the media - all the media. This includes news coverage and purchased media.
I see little chance of change by the media. However, it would be nice to see greater editorial encouragement by the media for civility by candidates and their supporters.
